Many books have been written about what people have said about God. Today I’d like to simply share scripture which shows what God says about Himself to man. I have attempted to choose verses that will inspire worship, that is, verses where God demonstrates His power, majesty, authority, glory, wisdom, justice, love, righteousness, holiness, uniqueness and absolute perfection by what He Himself says.
Three things I noticed while preparing this message:
Exodus 3
14 And God said unto Moses, I AM
THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of
Israel, I AM[2]
hath sent me unto you.
Isaiah 41
4 Who hath wrought and done it, calling
the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the
last; I am he.
Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is
my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven
images.
Isaiah 43
10 Ye are my witnesses,
saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe
me, and understand that I am
he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
11 I, even I, am
the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
13 Yea, before the day was
I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of
my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?
25 I, even I, am
he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not
remember thy sins.
Isaiah 44
6 Thus saith the LORD the King
of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the
first, and I am
the last; and beside me there is no God.
24 Thus saith the LORD, thy
redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the
LORD that maketh all things;
that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by
myself;
Isaiah 45
5 I am the
LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded
thee, though thou hast not known me:
6 That they may know from the
rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I
am the LORD, and there is none else.
18 For thus saith the LORD that
created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath
established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I
am the LORD; and there is none else.
19 I have not spoken in secret,
in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in
vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
20 ¶ Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are
escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their
graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
21 Tell ye, and bring them
near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient
time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God
else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
22 Look unto me, and be ye
saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there
is none else.
Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I
am God, and there is none else; I am God,
and there is none like me,
Isaiah 51
12 I, even I, am
he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a
man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as
grass;
13 And forgettest the LORD thy
maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the
earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the
oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the
oppressor?
15 But I am
the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts is
his name.
Hosea 13:4 Yet I am the LORD thy
God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is
no saviour beside me.
Deuteronomy 32:39 See now that I, even I, am
he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and
I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
Genesis 1
3 And God said, Let there be light: and
there was light.
6 And God said,
Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the
waters from the waters.
9 And God said,
Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let
the dry land appear: and it was so.
11 And God said,
Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit
tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the
earth: and it was so.
14 And God said,
Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the
night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
20 And God said,
Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and
fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
24 And God said,
Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and
creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
26 And God said,
Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle,
and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the
earth.
Job 38
4 ¶ Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare,
if thou hast understanding.
5 Who hath laid the measures
thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
6 Whereupon are the foundations
thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
16 Hast thou entered into the
springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
17 Have the gates of death been
opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
18 Hast thou perceived the
breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.
22 Hast thou entered into the
treasures of the snow[3]?
or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,
23 Which I have reserved against
the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
24 By what way is the light
parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?
25 ¶ Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a
way for the lightning of thunder;
26 To cause it to rain on the
earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is
no man;
27 To satisfy the desolate and
waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
28 Hath the rain a father? or
who hath begotten the drops of dew?
29 Out of whose womb came the
ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
30 The waters are hid as with
a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
31 Canst thou bind the sweet
influences of Pleiades[4],
or loose the bands of Orion[5]?
32 Canst thou bring forth
Mazzaroth[6]
in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus[7]
with his sons?
33 Knowest thou the ordinances
of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?
34 Canst thou lift up thy voice
to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?
35 Canst thou send lightnings,
that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?
36 Who hath put wisdom in the
inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?
Genesis 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and
nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God;
walk before me, and be thou perfect.

bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be
holy, for I am holy.

make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.
30 Ye shall keep my sabbaths,
and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am
the LORD your God.
37 Therefore shall ye observe
all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am
the LORD.

will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the
LORD which hallow you,

neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image
of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the
LORD your God.

the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD
which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for
in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
Ezekiel 6:9 And they that escape of you shall remember
me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken[8]
with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes,
which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the
evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
Ezekiel 12:25 For I am the LORD: I
will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no
more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and
will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.

God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

the heathen shall know that I am
the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their
eyes.

myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know
that I am the LORD.
Ezekiel 39:7 So will I make my holy name known in the
midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name
any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD,
the Holy One in Israel.
Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud
overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my
beloved Son, in whom I am
well pleased; hear ye him.
Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye
shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the
clouds of heaven.

23 And he said unto them, Ye are
from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am
not of this world.
24 I said therefore unto you,
that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he,
ye shall die in your sins.
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am[9].
John 13:13 Ye call me Master and
Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou
hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory,
which thou hast given me[10]:
for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
John 6:51 I am the living bread which
came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever:
and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of
the world.

The I Am of the Old
Testament is unequivocally revealed in the New Testament[15].
Do we worship and stand in awe in the presence of the Great I Am or has He
become a sentimental demigod who is less powerful, less glorious, less
authoritative and less absolute than the God of the Old Testament. May we
recognise the Lord Jesus Christ for who He is and nothing less!

[2] What does I AM mean? Rather than trying to define by human standards, let us examine the instances where this phrase is used in scripture to speak of God. A summary verse might be Isaiah 43:10-11. See other references throughout the body of this message.
Snow Crystal
The exquisite, delicate beauty of snow crystals has attracted and fascinated people for generations. Like any art form expressed in miniature, the tiny crystals captivate the imagination and inspire awe. And they have an almost unbelievable number of forms and designs! Although all snow crystals share a hexagonal molecular structure and are made of ice formed in atmospheric cloud fields, close inspection reveals that they bear little resemblance to one another. Certain conditions of moisture and temperature will create distinguishable types of snow crystals, yet the variations on a theme are infinite.
Snow crystals can be simple or ornate. Types include six-rayed stars, hexagonal plates, columns, bullets, needles and irregular forms with no real symmetry at all. Stellar crystals, although they represent only a small portion of all the snow that falls, have clearly become the symbol for all snow. Simple crystals range in size from 1/32 to 1/2 inch. During a heavy snowfall, with mild temperatures, stellar crystals often cling together in cottony bundles as large as 2 inches across. The cluster of snow crystals is... a snowflake!
A snow crystal begins when water in the atmosphere condenses about a nucleus and freezes. Water molecules have an electromagnetic pattern for creating ice crystals; these microscopic gems of ice toss, whirl and tumble through the storm cloud for about 30 minutes before the details of their design are unvieled. When the snow crystal is fully formed and begins its earthbound descent, it travels an uncertain path at best, and most crystals reach the ground a bit travel-worn and not quite perfect.
Snow crystals buffeted about in a turbulent storm cloud encounter a wide spectrum of fluctuating vapor levels and temperatures, which partly, but only partly, explains the tremendous diversity of designs that are created. One question, as yet unanswered, is why the branches of an individual snow crystal are always identical. Why isn't one side different from the other? Perhaps the electrical charges of the water molecule somehow determine this symmetry … or perhaps something else is at work.

[4] Pleiades
Heb. kimah, "a cluster" #Job 9:9 38:31 Am 5:8 A.V., "seven stars; " R.V., "Pleiades", a name given to the cluster of stars seen in the shoulder of the constellation Taurus.
[5] Orion
Heb. Kesil; i.e., "the fool", the name of a constellation #Job 9:9 #Job
38:31 Am 5:8 consisting of about eighty stars. The
Vulgate renders thus, but the LXX. renders by Hesperus, i.e., "the
evening-star, " Venus. The Orientals "appear to have conceived of
this constellation under the figure of an impious giant bound upon the
sky." This giant was, according to tradition, Nimrod, the type of the
folly that contends against God. In #Isa 13:10
the plural form of the Hebrew word is rendered "constellations."
[6] Mazzaroth
Prognostications, found only #Job 38:32 probably meaning "the twelve
signs" (of the zodiac), as in the margin (comp.) #2Ki 23:5
[7] Arcturus
Bear-keeper, the name given by the ancients to the brightest star in the
constellation Bootes. In the Authorized Version #Job 9:9 38:32 it is
the rendering of the Hebrew word which probably designates the constellation
the Great Bear. This word is supposed to be derived from an Arabic word meaning
night-watcher, because the Great Bear always revolves about the pole, and to
our northern hemisphere never sets.
[8] Compare with Genesis 6:6 where God was grieved!
[9] Compare with Exodus 3:14
[10] Compare with Isaiah 42:8. God cannot lie (Titus 1:2). This can only mean that Christ is God and that the Godhead is plural.
[11] People like to quote Mark 10:18 “And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.” As a proof that Lord Jesus is not God. He Himself called Himself good when He said “I am the good shepherd” in John 10:11. This is proof that the Mark 10:18 quote is not saying that the Lord Jesus Christ is not God but it is simply demanding one to recognize Him for who He is, ie there is none good but God, do you recognize me as who I am?
[12] People also like to say that if the Lord Jesus is the Son of God then He can’t be God, He must be inferior because a son is always inferior to his father. This statement is false. Every human is equal and while a son maybe subject to his father, when he has come of age he has every responsibility and honor as his father has.
[13] Compare with Genesis 17:1 when God introduces Himself to Abram.
[14] Compare with Isaiah 41:4 and who it is who is speaking in Revelation 22:16.
[15] 2 Corinthians 4:6, 1 Corinthians 10:4, etc.
